WORLD CLASS BLUESMAN

New 'Songs From The Road ' double CD on Ruff Records

The hottest southpaw in the blues. A master touch and killer tone.” - Guitar One Mag
" Awe-inspiring and boogie requiring," – Village Voice

Hailing from Southern California, Montoya is a self taught guitar slinger, who plays with an emotional intensity few string benders possess. Playing left-handed and up side down like Albert King, Montoya learned his guitar techniques from his years with ALBERT COLLINS. "I never had a lesson in my life. I would watch other guitar players to catch what they did. I would wait for that one moment when they would do it, and just stare at them and try and remember where their hand was, where their fingers were."

In 1984, his second mentor, JOHN MAYALL, asked him to join The BLUES BREAKERS; playing with WALTER TROUT in one of Mayall’s most exciting line-ups.
In the early 1990's he launched his solo career on Blind Pig Records cutting 3 albums and won the Blues Foundation's Best New Blue Artist Award.

In 2000, Coco signed with Alligator Records, the country's top blues label cutting 3 excellent albums in 7 years, 'Suspicion', 'Can't Look Back', and 2007's 'Dirty Deal'.

In 2009, Coco moved to Europe's premier blues label, Ruf Records, with his 'I Want It All Back' and now he tours behind a classy retrospective live CD.
