Finland’s premier acoustic outfit FLUTE OF SHAME* are a top notch harmony led band. The line-up comprises Anglo-Finish lead vocalist and guitarist Koop Arponen, fellow guitarist and vocalist Brit James Stephen Daniel Lascelles and Dane Michael Stefaniuk on double bass and vocals.
The English speaking group formed in Helsinki early 2010 and have already toured extensively across Finland and parts of Spain. The band released their first EP 'Coming Home' in July 2012. Their second EP 'These Hands' will be released on 7th June 2013.
Influenced by the Beatles, Billy Bragg, Billy Joel and Frank Turner, they play their own subtly crafted songs that have led to radio plays and chart success in Finland.

Koop moved to Finland to pursue a solo career in music, since then he has had a number one album, two number one hit singles and wrote the song ‘I Love It When I See You Smile’, which helped raise awareness and 110,000 euros for the Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Campaign in Finland. During Koop’s solo career he has performed and recorded alongside world class musicians, such as Riku Niemi, Leri Leskinen, Pandora and Katherine Jenkins.

Both Dane and James moved to Helsinki, Finland to continue writing, recording and performing with Flute of Shame.

Tonight’s show is a special live video recording of their first UK show of the year.
*Flute of Shame take their name from a medieval torture device used to punish bad musicians. The contraption would be fitted around the neck, with the fingers clamped tightly along the flute, often being worn for days. The band hope fans find the name ironic!
