Formed in December
2004, and springing from the London jam circuit, funkydory is a melting pot
of different styles and influences. A fusion of blues, soul, funk and jazz,
a mixture of strong originals and reworked covers - all delivered with skill,
professionalism, and passion.

Guitarist Jules Fothergill
and singer Lorna Reilly first met in 2001 as
members of the band "Roadhouse", a regularly gigging band throughout the UK.
A combination of Lorna and Jules' desire to take a more active role in writing,
and the chance chemistry beginning to develop at jam sessions with French guitarist
Marc Le Guerranic, meant that the formation
of a new band seemed natural and inevitable. With a rhythm section of Hayden
Doyle on drums (known to Jules through a funk-rock band he had been
a member of several years previously) and Ian "Lillian"
Mauracio on bass (an old friend of Jules, with a unique Albert King
style).
Their demo (recorded
live and without overdubs during rehearsals) shows the passion, energy and versatility
that is already becoming the band's trademark when performing live. In the words
of others:
"the highlights were
what is effectively the future of the band - their original compositions. Full
of variety and inventiveness. on this evidence they have a very exciting future!
I can only suggest that you get yourself to a gig to see and hear the proof.
Funky, soul-infected blues rock. Switch on to Funkydory, the new sound of music..."
- Alan Harvey, Blues Matters! Magazine
"This group aim at the head and feet with some dazzling
instrumental interludes and danceable beats... Edgy arrangements, warm abandon
and total audience approval..." - Pete Sargeant, Resonance FM
