ROGER "HURRICANE" WILSON CD
"LIVE AT THE STANHOPE HOUSE"
======================================================
Atlanta, Georgia based blues artist
Roger "Hurricane" Wilson's new live CD release entitled "Live at The Stanhope
House"on Bluestorm Records is now availble. The CD was recorded on November
4, 2000 at New Jersey's premiere blues club, The Stanhope House in Stanhope,
NJ. Built as an 18th century roadhouse, The Stanhope House has a lengthy history,
but since the mid 1970's, that history has been rooted in The Blues.
The stage at The Stanhope has hosted such legendary blues greats as Muddy Waters,
Willie Dixon, Homesick James, Robert Lockwood, Jr., and David "Honeyboy" Edwards,
just to name a few. Contemporary blues guitarist Roger "Hurricane" Wilson has
logged well over a half million miles over the past 20 years, while most recently,
playing in excess of 250 dates a year.
"Live at The Stanhope House" is Wilson's 4th CD to date and is a full 72 minutes
of music combining original songs with some classic blues covers. There are
no bells and whistles on this CD. It is strictly representative of the shows
put on night after night, in town after town by Roger "Hurricane" Wilson. Coincidentally,
the November, 2000 issue of BLUES REVUE featured Wilson in its "After Dark"
! section with a review of his July 14th, 2000 Stanhope House appearance.
Writer Keith Mulhare stated: "SEAMLESSLY AND DYNAMICALLY RANGING FROM A POUNDING
RAIN OF NOTES TO A SIMMERING SOULFUL WHISPER, THE FORMER GUITAR TEACHER CAME
ACROSS AS A STYLISH LEAD GUITARIST".
The essence of Wilson's live show has been captured on this disc, and the emphasis
is properly placed on his guitar playing. The energetic rhythm section consisting
of "The Jersey Boys", bassist Ed Stilles, and drummer Dave Moore more than solidly
complete the package.
Acclaimed Chicago Bluesman, Carl Weathersby says, "ROGER 'HURRICANE' WILSON
PLAYS ALL KINDS OF GUITAR... ALL GOOD!".
Francine Reed, who has recently recorded and toured with Willie Nelson, says
"ROGER 'HURRICANE' WILSON IS A FORCE TO BE PAYING REAL ATTENTION TO".
This CD is a must for all blues fans, and especially those fans of high spirited
electric guitar. The CD, "LIVE AT THE STANHOPE HOUSE" is now available at your
favorite record store effective March 20, 2001.
