Larger than life LA band The Imperial Crowns played in the UK during the summer of 2005.

“I ain’t no hero and I don’t wanna boast, But I kicked (the devil’s) ass from coast to coast”

Making their UK debut, The Imperial Crowns promoted their "Preachin’ the Blues Live" CD/DVD on Ruf Records.

Described as "Hard street spreachin’ soul blues collides with psychedelic swamp funk and evoking the spirits of Otis Redding, Captain Beefheart and Blind Lemon Jefferson", this is a band with a wide musical canvas, but with a warped magnificent angular sense of the blues at the core!

Featuring the Pentacostal rants, low down lyrical sleaze and Howlin Wolf style vocals of the original ‘Cadillac King of harp players’, Jimmie Wood, The Imperial Crown are a compelling mix of dirt driven blues with a funky undertow topped by Jimmie’s outrageous Hollywood B movie imagination & firebrand blues preaching.

“Preachin’ The Blues Live” follows the impressive debut CD "Hymn Book" on Ruf, The band’s drive comes from charismatic Jimmie Wood, on harp/guitar/vocals, JJ Holiday on magnificent slide guitar/vocals & Billy "Champagne" Sullivan on drums, & John “Speed” Avila on bass/vocals.

The Crowns combined musical pedigree includes Charlie Musselwhite, Springsteen, Hubert Sumlin, Sunnyland Slim, Steve Vai, Chuck E Weiss, Etta James and Bruce Hornsby & they redefine the line between Rockin Blues, Funk, and Soul, in a blistering show.

There is no other band like the Imperial Crowns. This is your time to catch one of the most original bands on the planet and they are coming at ya!!!!
