One of the great guitarist in the world - the world’s greatest rock guitarist according to Bob Harris’s 'The Whispering Years' autobiography – blues-rocker Walter Trout’s career includes 10 years with John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, John Lee Hooker and Canned Heat as well as stints with Big Mama Thornton, Lowell Fulson and Joe Tex. He’s about to celebrate his 25 anniversary as a solo artist with a discography that includes 22 albums.

The veteran bluesman has seen and done it all, with just one omission: he’s never made a covers album, until now. ? “Luther Allison’s Blues is my first,” Trout notes. “I’ve thought about doing this album for years. It was just time.”

Walter played with the Chicago bluesman at the 1986 Montreux Jazz Festival and when they walked offstage, somebody took the photo that is the cover of the new cd. “When Luther died [in 1997], the idea of this album was planted in my brain”, says Walter. “Cherry Red Wine is one of the all-time greatest blues songs ever written, and Luther’s original version is so unbelievably passionate and emotional that even to sing it was a daunting task. If I had my way with this album, it would reignite interest in the man and his work, make people go back and check out the originals.”

Walter’s career has reached new heights in the last few years with his last album the best selling ‘Blues For The Modern Daze’ making history by hitting the Billboard top ten blues chart twice! He also recently appeared in the BB King biopic and jammed at the film launch with Mick Taylor, a man who knows a great tone when he hears one.

For his live shows Walter relies on an equally top line-up with Sammy Avila on keys, lead guitarist tuned bassist Rick Knapp on bass and powerhouse Michael Leasure on drums.
