Stapley steps out in his own right to promote his current album ‘Edge
of the World’.
Nearly 34 years ago vocalist/guitarist and later producer JAY STAPLEY
moved to become one of the best-known session and gigging guitarists,
working with ROGER WALTERS, MIKE OLDFIELD, SCOTT WALKER, KISRSTY MCCOLL,
IAN HUNT, MICHAEL KAMEN, TOYAH & even SUEDE as well as working on
films like 'Withnail and I' in between commuting to Germany to work with
German superstar Westernhagen,
Jay also recorded 4 instrumental CDs on WEA records in the 1990’s
and has recently released a new CD of songs (“Edge of the World”,
In between the tours and recording Jay also became a demonstrator for
Roland UK and Roland International, while developing his own studio, and
a teacher at the famed Guitar Institute (now ICMP) and starting up his
own label. |

Paul Godden and fiddle player
wife Jean’s band `Ponchartrain` has long been a mainstay of the
Bristol rockabilly, country and blues scene in Bristol. And Paul has long
played lap steel guitar with renowned Cardiff based country/rockabilly
outfit `The Rimshots`, veterans of many US and European tours. Singer
and virtuoso, slide/guitar and mandolin player Paul played slide guitar
on two albums with Van Morrison and is a sought out session player. He
has a long association with singer, guitarist/harmonica player Doc Stenson.
Doc’s music is rooted in 1930’s blues, country and jazz, as
well as playing in rock and blues bands in the 1980’s and backing
US blues stars like Lowell Fulson and Lazy Lester. Influences range from
Lonnie Johnson, top Little Walter and T Bone Walker. They have a long
track record of club, festival, broadcasting and recording work, accumulating
a large repertoire of songs and instrumentals. Doc’s band `The Amazing
Hotshots`, was a regular feature of the Lon!
don blues scene throughout the 1980s.
