THE FLYOVERS & RUTHLESS BLUES
Worcester Park Club, Friday 20th July 2001
To say this Double
Bill was rockin' was an understatement! First up were Flyovers
who were well worth arriving earlier to catch the full set. The band had two
new members but that didn't change a thing. They hit us with some Real
Driving RnB only slowing down on one track! I got the impression
that the crowd were itching to get up and dance from the beginning, but maybe
hadn't finished their first pint yet !! The band's obvious main influence is
Dr Feelgood they were one of the loudest
bands I have ever seen at WPC. I also bought their new album which is
Very Good (Well worth a tenner!)
I suspect it wont be long before this band Blow up
on Pub Rock Circuit.
Then came Ruthless
Blues. The band ran through a good set , which covered Little
Sister and Elmore James's It
hurts me too. The singer plays a mean "Harp" and
to my surprise played on the road with Bad Manners
in the early eighties! The bass player was also very impressive as were the
rest of 'em. They played a lot of covers, which was a good contrast to the Flyovers.
The singer certainly likes "The odd Shandy" whilst on stage too!!!!!!
The formula seemed to be fast - slow - fast which made the rockin' numbers more
impact. The finale was a blistering cover of Them's
Gloria which could scorch the paint off
a battle ship !
Great Double Bill !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
